As I have gotten stronger and older I have learned that while linear periodization still works it just be programmed correctly. No more can I add 5# a workout or week to an all out stop set week after week. It burns me out, cortisol spikes, I become desensitized to adrenaline…..basically all bad things happen. Using a training max is simply taking 90% of a PR and programming off that. Many and most all world class lifters program this way. Why? Well it builds in cushion, allows for awesome days
