Today marks a special anniversary in the history of Lucas. It is the 140th anniversary of the sealing of the first patent granted to Joseph Lucas (Patent reference 3035). The patent was for "Certain Improvements in the Manufacture of Lamps". This related to the mode of constructing them in a portable manner which enabled individual components to be repaired or replaced.
