Standing alone amid the grazing marshes of Kent, St Thomas à Becket Church at Fairfield dates back to the 13th century. Originally timber-framed and later rebuilt in brick during the 1790s, it was dedicated to Archbishop Thomas Becket, murdered in 1170 after clashing with King Henry II. The church still stands on its medieval foundations and remains in occasional use. Surrounded by water channels and open skies, it’s one of the most hauntingly beautiful sights on Romney Marsh. #FairfieldChurch #
