After providing months of intensive outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness along the San Diego River, one year later 59 people are in permanent housing with more than 40 currently enrolled in a sheltering program. This targeted effort aimed to provide shelter and housing options before removing 78 tons of trash and debris from the area. Today, this section of the river known as "The Island" near I-5 and Old Sea World Drive remains free of encampments. | City of San Diego
