White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett says the U.S. is not in a hiring recession, despite the Bureau of Labor Statistics November jobs report showing unemployment ticked up to 4.6% and the pace of hiring slowed. “I think that, basically, the number was about what the market expected,” Hassett argues. “It was a number that was less than 100, which is a little bit lower than you'd like.
