Today we salute the Saab 91 Safir, which turns 80 years old. The Safir made its maiden flight on 20 November 1945 with test pilot Olle Hagermark at the controls. It was originally built with the civilian market in mind, but thanks to its excellent flight characteristics, it also became a popular trainer aircraft for many military operators.
