THE HAWKINS-KENNEDY TEST FOR SUBACROMIAL PAIN SYNDROME (SAPS) The test is positive when the patient's pain is provoked and from an anatomical perpective, this can happen due to the encroachment of rotator cuff tendons and/or bursa when when tuberculum majus is driven into the roof of the acromion. According to a meta-analysis done by Hegedus et al.(2012) this test has a sensitivity of 80% and a specificity of 56%, which makes it a moderate test to rule out SAPS.
