Did you know that if you visit Linlithgow Palace on Sundays in July and August you can see its ornate fountain in action? The King’s Fountain was built by James V in 1538 as the centrepiece of the inner courtyard. At 480 years old, we reckon this is the oldest surviving fountain in Britain. It was lovingly restored in 2005 and water was able to flow through the fountain again for the first time in a century.
