The Chumash Indians that inhabited the land we live in for thousands of years lived in domed homes called and 'ap. 'Aps (not be confused with apps) were made by bending willow poles into a half circle, then covering the sides with bulrush/cattail. There are 'aps on display at the Chumash Indian Museum outdoor village, Stagecoach Inn Museum outdoor area and Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa.
