In August 2012, John Unger of Bayfield, Wisconsin, became an internet sensation after a video of him floating his arthritic dog, Schoep, in Lake Superior went viral. For 19 years, Schoep had been John’s loyal companion, and John sought to ease his pain through water therapy. Photographer Hannah Stonehouse Hudson captured this touching moment, leading to widespread online support and donations for Schoep’s treatment, Sadly Schoep passed away in July 2013. | History In Pictures
