Tropical Storm Chantal has formed off the southeastern U.S. coast. The National Hurricane Center in Miami says tropical storm warnings have been issued for portions of the Carolinas.
Rains from the outer bands of Tropical Storm Chantal could dump as far west from the coast as Charlotte, a National Weather Service meteorologist said Saturday. “Shower chances increase after daybreak Sunday,” NWS meteorologist Chris Horne said about the Charlotte area.
It hit land near Litchfield Beach at about 4 a.m. ET Sunday, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. Lots of rain was forecast from Chantal through Monday.
