'Purple Rain,' the legendary 1984 rock musical drama starring Prince is returning to theatres for one night only on Wednesday, March 5. This one-night viewing will be only screened at AMC Theatres locations with Dolby Cinema.

Dolby and AMC Theatres have announced that Purple Rain is heading back to screens for a one-night-only stint at a handful of theaters around the country on March 5. In the Twin Cities, it'll play at AMC Rosedale and AMC Southdale.

Now, “Purple Rain” returns to the big screen with a re-release in Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos immersive audio. The film will be screened at Dolby Cinema at AMC Theatres locations in the U.S. and Dolby Cinema at ODEON locations in the U.K. for one night only on March 5.

Prince will loom larger than life on the big screen once again, but for one night only and in a way fans have never seen the film before. “Purple Rain” will be shown in Dolby Cinemas at AMC Theaters on March 5 in Dolby Vision High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos immersive audio, Dolby said in a news release.

Prince fans across the country will get a chance to see Prince’s “Purple Rain” movie like few have seen it before on March 5. A newly restored version of the mostly Minnesota-made 1984 film will be shown exclusively in Dolby Cinema at 7 p.

There is no onsite parking for events at Jefferson Theatre. It is recommended that patrons park in the Water Street Parking Garage (100 and 200 blocks of East Water Street), which is a short walk to the theater.
