The National Weather Service has issued both a heat and air quality alert for most of downstate New York, Wednesday, July 16.

Air quality in the Chicago area has remained poor for three days in a row, the NBC 5 Storm Team reported Wednesday morning.

The alert comes as humidity is expected to increase Tuesday, with high temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s, with heat indices reaching 100 by Wednesday.
