They called it “Task Force Barrage,” and described it as a $5 million funding boost for the Vancouver Police Department to get more beat cops with boots on the ground in the beleaguered Downtown Eastside neighbourhood, as well as more long-term investigations into organized crime and higher-level drug trafficking.
