Democratic lawmakers are pushing a joint resolution to put the kibosh on President Trump's use of the D.C. Metropolitan Police force for federal purposes.

The White House this week took control of D.C. police as part of a crime crackdown, an unprecedented step which city officials say violated federal law.

The move followed Attorney General Pam Bondi's announcement that DEA chief Terry Cole would assume the duties of police chief.
