US Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained about 10,000 people in the first two weeks of the Trump administration, according to federal data, underscoring the White House’s early efforts to ramp up deportations.

ICE did not say why it had not previously sought to detain Jose Fernando-Perez, who was placed on house arrest in 2022.

In the first two weeks of February, Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained more than 1,800 migrants with criminal convictions or with pending criminal charges against them.
