After a gap of 15 years since Brazilian Formula 1 fans last had a homegrown driver on the grid, some have been moved to come up with mascots, songs, anything to cheer for 21-year-old rookie Gabriel Bortoleto at this Sunday’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Sauber Formula 1 driver Gabriel Bortoleto crashed out of the Brazilian Grand Prix, resulting in a safety car. After starting from 18th on the grid, Bortoleto crashed on the opening lap of his first home race. It looked as though he was squeezed by Aston Martin's Lance Stroll before he dipped onto the grass, lost traction and crashed into the wall.
Norris leads after the first SQ3 runs - a 1:09.271-second lap. Piastri is only fourth, with Antonelli and Russell second and third. These four will now try and cool their tires and go again, while Verstappen and the rest are just going to leave it for one late flier.
