Alamo Drafthouse has become the latest media company to endure a round of layoffs. The popular theater chain had company-wide downsizing on Tuesday. The move comes seven months after Alamo was acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The Austin-based company operates 35 cinemas across 25 metro areas.

Less than a year after being acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment, Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinema announced substantial layoffs on Tuesday. The cuts will affect both corporate staff and hourly theater employees.

Alamo Drafthouse has been hit with layoffs as 15 employees, or 9% of its workforce, at the corporate level were let go. The popular movie theater chain had 165 people working at the company prior to cutbacks.

Alamo Drafthouse on Tuesday confirmed it laid off employees at the corporate and venue level as part of a business restructuring initiative.
