Detroit fire officials are investigating multiple house fires that broke out Tuesday morning, including a blaze that destroyed two vacant homes and damaged one family’s home on Dwyer Street.
Dundee Township Fire Department was the lead agency, and said they were called out after 911 callers reported flames visible from the windows of a home on Dennison Road near Day Road. When firefighters arrived, they found the house completely engulfed and immediately requested neighboring departments for mutual aid.
Fire officials say “challenging circumstances within the house," including items that were obstacles for firefighters, made it difficult to get to the trapped victims.
City of Detroit maintenance workers could only board up the windows in the charred and frozen aftermath of a deadly fire that tore through a home on 12000 block of Rutherford – near Greenfield and I-96 – on Detroit’s west side early Sunday morning.
