Tommy Kahnle, a 2007 Shaker graduate, signed Wednesday with the Detroit Tigers after spending the past two seasons in the bullpen of the New York Yankees.

It has been a mediocre offseason so far for the Detroit Tigers, who haven’t quite made the splash some had been hoping for coming in. After an incredible run in 2024, expectations for the Tigers are very different going into 2025.

Kahnle, 35, has spent parts of 10 seasons in the big leagues, including six with the New York Yankees. He was a reliable part of the Bronx bullpen last season. He made nine appearances in the postseason, earning the save in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series at Cleveland.
