The Dallas Cowboys requested an interview with Atlanta Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger regarding the team's vacant offensive coordinator
I’d love to be a head coach," Schottenheimer told Yahoo Sports two summers ago. Now he gets his chance. What will it look like in Dallas?
Jones made the comfortable move that likely won't cost too much to replace Mike McCarthy as the Cowboys head coach
Brian Schottenheimer served as an assistant under McCarthy the past three seasons. He joined the Cowboys as an analyst in 2022 and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023 when Kellen Moore was fired. Moore, who joined the Los Angeles Chargers for one ...
“Brian Schottenheimer is known as a career assistant,” Jones said, per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. “He ain’t Brian no more,” Jones puzzlingly added. “He is now known as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.”
DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys have found their new head coach: Brian Schottenheimer, the team's offensive coordinator the last two seasons. Schottenheimer replaces Mike McCarthy, who split ways with Dallas after the injury-riddled Cowboys struggled to a 7-10 record in 2024.
The Cowboys decision to roll with Schotty comes with the reality that other choices exist to measure him against.
For Cowboys officials, Schottenheimer became the logical choice regardless of what others thought because of the continuity he brings to the position. Schottenheimer joined the organization as an offensive consultant in 2022 and served as the team’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.
Schottenheimer began his coaching career back in 1997 when he landed an assistant position with the St. Louis Rams. Over the years, he has served on the coaching staff for teams such as the Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars and several others.
The Dallas Cowboys unveiled Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach at The Star, and now the organization can begin to move forward after what was a disastrous last 12 months. Schotty, in speaking with the media, was direct and firm in knowing exactly what he wants, and how he wants his team to play.
Dallas has promoted Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Scottenheimer to be the franchise's 10th head coach -- and the ninth under Jones' ownership that began in 1989 -- the team announced Friday night.
