The death toll in the attack on a busy Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg has risen to five, with more than 200 people injured, the state governor said Saturday.

A toddler and one other person have been killed and around 60-80 injured, according to German media, after a car was driven into a crowd of people at a Christmas market in the eastern city of Magdeburg.

Among the dead was also a toddler along with an adult and the officials told Associated Press that the death toll may rise as some of the victims got seriously injured.
