While Erin is expected to take a northward turn in the Atlantic, a new system off the coast of Africa has the National Hurricane Center's attention.
The storm will remain a major hurricane through the middle of the week, according to the National Hurricane Center.
This threat will steadily increase Tuesday through Thursday night, gradually decreasing heading into the weekend, forecasters said.
Tropical Storm Erin continues its westward path across the Atlantic, expected to become a hurricane Aug. 15, and a major hurricane by Sunday morning.
