Six of the Group of Seven leaders were trying, as their summit wraps up, to show the wealthy nations’ club still has the clout to shape world events despite the early departure of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The US president had been due to speak at the G7 summit with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom he has had a volatile relationship, but flew back Monday over the Israel-Iran conflict.

Six of the Group of Seven leaders have discussed Russia’s war in Ukraine and international cooperation on key, non-military issues, wrapping up a summit that was forced to try and demonstrate how the wealthy nations’ club still can shape world events despite the early departure of U.
