Christian leaders in Houston are banding together to urge Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas House to reject redrawing the state's congressional maps during a planned special legislative session later this month.

President Trump said he hopes Texas Republicans will pick up five seats in the House from a redistricting plan they hope to enact in a special legislative session later this month. Trump told reporters a “very simple redrawing” could yield five additional seats for the GOP in the Lone Star State.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom says his state may retaliate if Texas redraws its congressional district maps in a way that benefits the GOP.
