Im just wondering if anyone has this with kids? We are building a house and want to do this but Im not sure how safe it is. we have no kids yet but soon.

I am in escrow on a 16.57×26 ft brownstone and am thinking of changing the staircase from going along the side to going up the center in the way that it makes a c shape and so takes up less space.
