President Donald Trump said Tuesday he was signing an executive order to give tech billionaire Elon Musk more power over the federal workforce, adding to Musk's swift and sweeping consolidation of political influence.

Trump has threatened to place a 25 percent tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, as well as a 10 percent additional tariff on all imports from China. Energy resources from Canada will have a lower 10 percent tariff.

Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest man, took questions for the first time since the president gave him broad authority to overhaul the executive branch.
