After over 40 years in Park City, Utah, the Sundance Film Festival has a new locale. Starting in 2027, the popular independent film-centric festival will move to another snow capped mountain town in Boulder, Colorado, according to a news release from the Sundance Institute.

The Sundance Film Festival is leaving Utah and moving to different mountains. America’s most important launchpad for independent film will abandon its home for Boulder, Colorado, starting in 2027, the nonprofit Sundance Institute announced Thursday.

For more than four decades, Park City, Utah, hosted the Sundance Film Festival. But now it’s moving to Boulder. After years of consideration, the Sundance Institute’s Board of Trustees announced Thursday that the Colorado town will host its first Sundance in January 2027. (Next year’s Sundance will take place in Park City and Salt Lake City.)
