ATLANTA — The winning $980 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in Georgia. The Quik Pick ticket was sold at a Publix in Newnan, Georgia, which is located about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta, according to Mega Millions. Friday's winning numbers were 1-8-11-12-57, Mega Ball 7.

The Powerball lottery continued climbing after a lucky winner in Georgia won the Mega Millions jackpot valued at $980 million on Friday.

The estimated Powerball jackpot is $546 million. The lump sum payment before taxes would be about $255.6 million. The Double Play is a feature that gives players in select locations another chance to match their Powerball numbers in a separate drawing.
