As smoke pours from the intense wildfires currently scorching Los Angeles, air quality has plummeted across the city due to particulate pollution.

A series of life-threatening fires, the largest of which is in the Pacific Palisades, are destroying homes as they race across Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. CNN is tracking the fires in maps and charts.

Satellite images of the disaster, released by Maxar Technologies, show the extent of the damage that the fires have caused in the California.

Since Tuesday, several wildfires have broken out in the Los Angeles area fueled by strong winds, with the largest being the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire. The two fires combined have burned thousands of acres and destroyed several hundred structures and homes.

Wildfires ripping through parts of Los Angeles – forcing at least 150,000 people to flee their homes – are so extensive that they can now be seen from Space. New satellite images show the inferno – believed worst in the history of the city – ravaging communities in the areas of Palisades and Eaton.
