Boeing has recommended that the three operators of MD-11 aircrafts ground the planes after a UPS cargo plane crashed into a ball of flames shortly after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky earlier this week.
The directive comes as the FAA continues to determine the cause of the detachment, which led to the Nov. 4 crash of a UPS cargo flight in Louisville.
UPS said earlier Saturday that it had made the decision to ground the fleet on the recommendation of the planes’ manufacturer.
