An interesting experience, a unique place. It is quite busy and packed. There are a large number of souvenir stores greeting us at the entrance and it gets more authentic as you walk deeper into this…Full review by Bogi F

This is pretty average. There are many people and the area is lively. The businesses sell well and people are happy. Some of the buildings are dated but it is cool because some buildings are part of …Full review by Jayden W

Don’t bother. It’s very nothing much. Full of souvenir shops and few old restaurants. The food doesn’t taste authentic like how it’s used to be. I noticed the services in most businesses are not up t…Full review by SydneAustralia

Parking is difficult EVERYWHERE and expensive most places. If you are going to be there a few days get the 3 day MUNI passports. They are great for getting to most places in San Francisco. For sure way cheaper than parking several places a day. If you have not committed to a hotel the Cow Hollow Inn and Suites are great and have free underground parking. That was what we opted for after tabulating costs elsewhere and parking. Lots of breakfast nooks and we got the 2 bedroom suite which was very spacious had 1 queen and 2 double and a couch. Not sure of kids ages. They also have a full kitchen with microwave. Good luck. We only had 3 days wish we had more. Lots of decent free things to do also.

Sorry - did not visit a dim sum restaurant while in Chinatown.
Traveling to SF on 5/11-5/12/18, with my daughter. Planning on Alcatraz tour during the day on Saturday and dinner in China Town Sat evening. 3 questions: 1) Any suggestions for an authentic Chinese restaurant to have Dim Sum? 2) Are reservations recommended? & 3) any safety concerns other than the usual for women travelers in large cities? Thanks!

Alcatraz and China Town are good choices. Sorry, but we didn’t eat in China Town this last time so I don’t have a recommended restaurant. I was there in January and my female travel companion and I were perfectly comfortable walking at night. We stayed just outside China Town.
