Hi! May is a fantastic time for whale watching in Vancouver. During this month, orca (killer whale) sightings are quite common, especially Bigg’s (transient) orcas, which hunt seals and sea lions along the coast. Humpback whales also begin returning to the region after their migration from warmer waters. Additionally, you may spot gray whales, as some linger in the area before continuing their journey north. Your chances of seeing whales on a Prince of Whales tour in May are very high (between 95 and 99%!), as our experienced guides and naturalists work with the latest sightings data to find them. Thanks to our whale sightings guarantee we offer another free adventure if no whales are seen on your first trip. Let us know if you need help booking a tour—we’d love to take you out on the water!

It was quite cool out on the water and I am usually quite a warm blooded person. however it is different for everyone. I would recommend taking a light jacket - just in case. Hope that helps,
